The 2010 Cucalorus Film Festival kicks off this week in the port city of Wilmington, NC - opening on November 11th through the 14th. Hailed by MovieMaker magazine as one of the Top 25 Coolest Film Festivals in the country, the festival will include screenings of over 150 independent and international films. The festival's hub will return this year to the majestic and recently restored Thulan Hall, with additional events held at City Stage Theater, Jengo's Playhouse and other venues around town.

Digieffects, the creators of dozens of industry-popular visual effects plug ins for filmmakers, is headquartered in Wilmington and is a major sponsor of the Cucalorus Film Festival. As active participants in the local film community, this festival holds a special place for Digieffects president, Robert Sharp.
"When Digieffects set up shop in Wilmington, the filmmaking community - and the community at large - welcomed us and made us feel at home, like we were part of something bigger. So it's hard not to get caught up in the spirit of this event, to participate in any way we can, and in a way, give back to the community that's helped make Wilmington our home. I'm excited about this year's festival; the line up of films is impressive, the talent is amazing, and it'll be tremendous fun. We're proud to be a part of it!"
