GUILDFORD, UK (July 18, 2012) -- Imagineer Systems (www.imagineersystems.com) today announced it will showcase its newest versions of mocha Pro™ in its booth #744 at SIGGRAPH 2013 in Anaheim next week. During the show, Imagineer will be demonstrating mocha Pro v3.2, a new point release that provides much improved international character support and significant features to help artists work more efficiently, including:

 

• Global character & keyboard support: Unicode-enabled, supporting project, footage, layer names and file paths in any language;
• Fixes in licensing deactivation issues related to OS X Mountain Lion;
• Fixes in tracking export issues with interlaced projects for AE and FCP;
• Fixes in stabilized and inverted tracking export;
• 3D Camera exporter now exports nulls with names and accuracy identifiers to both After Effects and FBX for Nuke, C4D;
• Updated mocha 3D track import plug-in for After Effects (v1.1);
• Many more improvements in all areas of the software.

 

Additionally throughout the show, Imagineer Systems will also host guest artists from the visual effects industry who will be showing example of their work. Guests artists include:

In February 2013, Imagineer Systems was honored by the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences with a Scientific and Technical Award for mocha and its Planar Tracking technology. Red Giant BulletProof: It's Close

With the news of Red Giant BulletProof v1.0 shipping imminently, I wanted to share a link to a video that sums up BulletProof quite nicely. Positioned as a tool for filmmakers that fills the gap between the camera and the editor, BulletProof is as powerful and compelling as it is simple and elegantly designed. Personally, I am no pro shooter, but I use BulletProof to manage all my GoPro footage. It's changed the way I shoot GoPro, let alone how I manage my footage.

But take a look at the About BulletProof video here. If you haven't tried it, you should... It's still in free public beta. v1.0 will be shipping soon, and for $199, it's kind of a no-brainer. But I'd love to hear what you think once you've tried it.

Red Giant BulletProof: Final Beta Release

 

I wanted to keep you in the loop on BulletProof development, and how it’s progressing through beta as we prepare to ship version 1.0 later this summer. Last week, we released the Final Public Beta Release of BulletProof. We are making this new update available to our beta testers, as well as to any new customers who haven’t yet participated in the free public beta.

To date, several thousand people have downloaded BulletProof and have been helping us shape it, refine it and make it even more of what filmmakers want in a footage prep and delivery tool. This new beta release includes many feature updates and fixes in response to all of the feedback we’ve received through our forums, including:

• Metadata export - Send metadata intact to FCP 7, FCP X and Premiere Pro as XML or XMP. Include color adjustments, In/Out points, and an option to trim the original clip or leave it as non-destructive metadata.
• Metadata presets - Save your color adjustments, keywords and other metadata as presets. Use them with playlists or apply on import.
• Color settings - An option to export color values as LUTs, a new Saturation slider, and more accurate color processing make BulletProof a no-brainer for color adjustments on set.
• Macbook Air - Playback now works beautifully on your Macbook Air or any computer using the Intel HD 4000 graphics card.
• PluralEyes Integration – It’s started! A new Metadata option lets you mark and send your imported clips in a bin setup that PluralEyes can read. We have great plans for BulletProof and PluralEyes…
• Better Checksum status - Checksum info is now displayed in the Metadata options, and you have direct access to Import, Backup and Export logs from there.
• New UI - The user interface has been locked down! This includes tooltips, keyboard shortcuts, preferences, context menus, and badges on thumbnails.
• Logic updates - We've added support for Undo/Redo, and Copy/Paste. You'll wonder how you lived without it.

Ryan Connolly of Film Riot talked about Hitfilm Ultimate 2 in his 2012 Filmmakers' Christmas List episode yesterday (awesome episode, btw) and since he spoke so highly of it, I thought it'd be worth sharing this well-done tutorial. It's done by Imagineer's own Martin Brennand and goes into some nice detail.

Red Giant PluralEyes 3.1: The Fast and the Furious..

Well, let's just say...fast! Really fast!

Today Red Giant released a new version of its 'blazingly fast' PluralEyes audio/video syncing software. Purchased from Singular Software over the summer, Red Giant has quickly reached some impressive milestones with this time-saving (and many filmmakers might call it, life-saving) piece of software.

Since acquiring the product line from Singular, Red Giant has released a version 3 for Mac which jacked up the sync speed by a factor of 20x over version 2; they're now coming out with 3.1 upgrade that adds MXF support and timeline sync for Avid Media Composer. This will make a lot of editors happy (happier). And a Windows version is in development - coming soon, as they say.

It Actually is Easy Being Green...with doddlePRO

 

It's one thing when a company develops a product that has positive implications on the environmement. It's another thing when a Hollywood mogul steps up and not only talks about the environment, but actually does something about it.

I'm talking about Gale Ann Hurd.

The Hollywood Reporter's Etan Vlessing spoke with Gale about the importance of green technology on the set of her work (The Walking Dead, The Hulk). Here are a couple of excerpts:

In 2007, Hurd and her production team made The Incredible Hulk movie shoot in Toronto a green standard-bearer for Hollywood.

Actors were driven round in hybrid vehicles, set builders used sustainably harvested wood, and Hurd gave everyone a stainless steel mug to replace plastic water bottles and disposable coffee containers.

“We had a green department head meeting, and before the meeting we asked people to come with suggestions from their department,” she recalled.
